Ballet Barre

Experience the rejuvenating world of barre, a fusion of the grace of ballet and the fun energy of cardio fitness. This class is thoughtfully designed to provide a comprehensive, low-impact workout suitable for all skill levels, regardless of your dance background. With a diverse range of music, you'll have the opportunity to discover the transformative benefits of movement, build strength, and enhance flexibility.

NOTE: Each class is first come, first serve due to limited space/equipment.

Each movement in barre can be tailored to fit your own individualized needs and allow you to work at your own intensity level.

Special Requirements

Comfortable, breathable clothing with socks, tennis shoes, or dance shoes. No previous experience is necessary. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years old.

No class February 25, March 31.

About the Instructor

Nila Horner, Adult Studio Programs Instructor

Nila Horner is a second-year Ph.D. student at Michigan Tech studying Rhetoric, Theory, and Culture with a concentration in digital humanities. Nila started attending group fitness classes in 2013 as a freshman in college as a way to reduce stress and take a break from her work in front of the computer. She began teaching dance fitness during law school and has loved connecting with students of all skills and ability levels.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Nila holds both a J.D. and a Masters in Information Science from the University of Missouri. In addition to her studies, Nila works as an instructor in the Humanities Department and teaches UN1015 Composition at Michigan Tech. Outside of work, Nila enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing with her dogs.
