Michigan Tech Trails

The Michigan Tech Trails are a great resource—support them by purchasing an annual access or day pass. Your support helps ensure that our trails are well groomed, maintained, and updated.

Trail usage is one of the benefits of the Experience Tech Fee and currently enrolled Michigan Tech students may use the Tech Trails at no charge. Trail access or a day pass is required for all other users. Children age 12 and younger are eligible for free youth trail access available at the SDC Ticket Office.

Trails access get locker room access - ability to use the locker room (110). Locker rentals are reserved for SDC members. 

Community Wax Space is available for general users.

Indoor wax space will not be available at the Tech Trails on race days!

Keweenaw Trail Alliance (KTA) Annual Trail Pass

Michigan Tech (Houghton), Swedetown (Calumet), Chassell Classic (Chassell), and Maasto Hiihto (Hancock) are four local top-notch outdoor recreation areas offering discounts on combined KTA passes. CLICK ON THE PRICE LINKS BELOW TO PURCHASE.

Michigan Tech requirements:

  • Michigan Tech access passes are required year-round.
  • Access ID or day access pass must be visible when using the trails.
  • Family access is defined as two adults, age 18 and older, and two junior family members living in the same household. $20 fee for each additional junior member.
  • Children under age 13 may use the trails free of charge.
  • Michigan Tech access will expire one year from the date of purchase.
  • Non-Michigan Tech trail users charging a registration or gate fee are required to reserve the trails. A share of this fee may be required and determined by SDC management.

All Trails:

  • A combination of the Keweenaw Trail Alliance (KTA) pass reflects a discount of 5% for two KTA passes, 10% for three KTA passes, and 15% for four KTA passes.
