When is the Skate Rental Center open?

How much does it cost to rent?

Skate rental is $5. Helmet issue is free.

Where are you located?

The Skate Rental Center is located on the west end of the ice level in the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

What size skates and helmets do you carry?

A list of available inventory can be found at Equipment & Services.

Can I reserve equipment ahead of time?

No. Equipment is first-come, first-serve. We do not take reservations.

Can I take my rental skates to another ice arena?

No. Rental skates and helmets are for use at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena only. They may be picked up immediately before and returned immediately after the scheduled ice sessions.

Can the community/non-MTU students rent from you?

Yes. Anyone can rent skates for $5. Sessions are specific to different activities, and the Rental Center is only open during specific times (see Location & Hours).

Where do I pay for skate rental?

Visit the SDC Ticket Office to make payment. Bring your ticket to the Skate Rental Center.

If there are no available skates to rent (all in use), can I get a refund?

Yes. Bring your ticket back to the SDC Ticket Office to receive a refund.

If I only need a helmet, do I have to go to the Ticket Office first?

No. Helmets can be picked up directly from the Skate Rental Center (free of charge).

How do I know what size skate to rent?

Begin with your current shoe size or one size smaller. The Skate Rental Center also has a skate sizing mat to use as a starting point. See Skate Rental Quick Guide.

Do you accept donations?

We are accepting monetary donations for the Skate Rental Center. Tax-deductible donations can be made directly to Michigan Tech at https://www.mtu.edu/givenow or by using the QR code(at right). Be sure to reference Charlotte Jenkins Fund. We are not accepting equipment donations.
