Camp Overview

This camp is for players entering grades 9 - 12 as of Fall 2024. You’ve got the knowledge and the skills—now head to Michigan Tech’s High School Elite mens’ basketball camp to take your game to the ultimate level. Work one-on-one with Michigan Tech’s head basketball coach and other top staff and student-athletes to learn at a pro level. Highly competitive drills and games played in the SDC Varsity Gym will allow you to put your skills to the test and perfect your performance.

What to Expect

3 hours of intensive training and plenty of highly competitive play.

Registration

$45/person

Commuter only. On-campus housing and meals are not available for this camp.

Deadline to register: July 24, 2024

Register online, in person at the Ticket Office, or by calling 906-487-2073. Payment in full is due at the time of registration.

A confirmation packet of required camp forms will be made available to participants/parents via email once their application is processed. The confirmation packet must be submitted within two weeks of registration.

 

Refunds

Prior to Deadline: Refunds will be issued upon receipt of a written notice of cancellation from a parent or guardian. Email or fax is acceptable. Please include the participant’s name and camp attending.

After Deadline: Refunds will be issued for medical reasons only. Written notice of cancellation from a parent or guardian must be accompanied by a doctor’s certificate. Email or fax is acceptable. Please include the participant’s name and camp attending.

If a participant is injured during camp, a refund will be issued in the form of a credit voucher for the next year for 80 percent of the unused portion of camp.

No refunds are given when a participant is expelled for disciplinary reasons.

In the event that a camp is canceled, registration fees only (we do not refund travel expenses) will be refunded in full or campers will have the option of switching to a similar camp if available.

Parking

Parents and commuter campers will receive a parking permit when you check in for camp. The permit will allow you to park in SDC Lot 22 (at the main entrance to the SDC). You must display the permit on the driver-side dashboard while parked in Lot 22. The permit is valid for only the dates listed on the permit. Parking tickets will be issued to violating vehicles and will not be the responsibility of Michigan Tech Sports Camps.

Meet the Coaches

Josh Buettner, Head Coach, Michigan Tech Men's Basketball

Josh Buettner was named head men's basketball coach on April 16, 2021. Buettner helped the Huskies to the NCAA Midwest Region Championship game in his 1st season as associate head men's basketball coach in 2020-21. The team finished 15-8 overall and 12-6 in the GLIAC North Division. Prior to his promotion to Associate Head Coach, Buettner served 13 seasons as the assistant coach. He has recruited four All-Americans and numerous All-GLIAC First Team selections since his appointment in 2008. The Shawano WI native starred for the Huskies from 2001-05. He was a two-time All-American and earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as both a junior and senior. A 6-9 forward, Buettner finished third on Tech’s all-time scoring chart with 2,061 career points. Following his graduation from Tech in 2005, Buettner played professionally in Europe for three years. He played in leagues in Denmark, Switzerland, and Iceland, and was named the Danish Elite League Player of the Year in his second pro campaign. In addition to his coaching duties, Buettner teaches classes in the Kinesiology and Integrated Physiology department and coordinates all of Michigan Tech's boys' basketball camps, clinics, and leagues as well as the Doghouse 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.

 

Zach Flener began his first year as assistant men's basketball coach in 2022-23. He assisted the squad to an upset victory over No. 1 seed Wisconsin Parkside in the GLIAC quarterfinals and Tech reached the Championship game before falling the NMU to end the season.

Prior to the Huskies, Flener served as basketball operations associate with the Lakeland Magic of the NBA G-League in 2021-22. In 2020-21, Flener was a player development coordinator at Lipscomb University. One year prior, he interned with the Dallas Mavericks for one season.
