Camp Overview

This camp is open to girls entering grades 9-12 as of Fall 2024. You’ve got the knowledge and the skills—now head to Michigan Tech’s High School Elite women’s basketball camp to take your game to the ultimate level. Work one-on-one with Michigan Tech’s head basketball coach and other top staff to learn at a pro level. Highly competitive drills and games, held in the SDC Varsity Gym and Multipurpose Room, will allow you to put your skills to the test and perfect your performance.

What to Expect

(2) two-hour sessions with intensive training and plenty of highly competitive play, including officiated games and drills.

10:00am-12:00pm Session 1
12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch Break (Wood Gym balcony available for eating space. Bring your own meal.)
1:00-3:00pm Session 2

What to Bring

Please bring individual water bottles, snacks, and athletic apparel/shoes for each participant.

Registration

$60/person

Commuter only. On-campus housing and meals are not available for this camp.

Deadline to register: July 27, 2024, 11:59pm EST

A confirmation packet of required camp forms will be made available to participants/parents via email once their application is processed. The confirmation packet must be submitted within two weeks of registration.

 

Refunds

Prior to Deadline: Refunds will be issued upon receipt of a written notice of cancellation from a parent or guardian. Email or fax is acceptable. Please include the participant’s name and camp attending.

After Deadline: Refunds will be issued for medical reasons only. Written notice of cancellation from a parent or guardian must be accompanied by a doctor’s certificate. Email or fax is acceptable. Please include the participant’s name and camp attending.

If a participant is injured during camp, a refund will be issued in the form of a credit voucher for the next year for 80 percent of the unused portion of camp.

No refunds are given when a participant is expelled for disciplinary reasons.

In the event that a camp is canceled, registration fees only (we do not refund travel expenses) will be refunded in full or campers will have the option of switching to a similar camp if available.

Parking

Visitors may use Lots 22 or 24, located outside the main entrance of the SDC, for parking during camps. There is no overnight parking. Please do not park in the UP Health System and Rehab Servies lot (north end of the SDC).

Meet the Coaches

Huskies Head Coach Samantha Hoyt

Sam Clayton enters her sixth season as head coach of the Michigan Tech Women's Basketball Program. Clayton and the Huskies ended the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 25-7,15-3 against conference opponents, and an NCAA tournament appearance. Clayton brings a wealth of coaching experience to Tech from both the NCAA Division I and II levels.

Clayton was a standout player for the Huskies, helping lead the program to the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship game as well as garnering multiple individual awards, including All-American Honorable Mention honors. Clayton is Michigan Tech's seventh all-time leading scorer, amassing 1,434 career points during her four-year career which spanned 124 games. She owns the second-highest career free throw percentage in program history at 84.8 percent and is tied for the second-highest single-season free throw percentage at 89.5 percent. Clayton was a Team Captain, First Team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, and a two-time WBCA All-America Honorable Mention honoree following her junior and senior seasons. Clayton was an excellent student in the classroom, receiving All-GLIAC Academic Excellence honors each of her four seasons. She was a Second Team Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American as a junior and was named to the First Team at the conclusion of her senior season.

Huskies Assistant Coach Elisa Jurmu

The 2023-24 season marks Elisa Jurmu's sixth as assistant coach of the Michigan Tech Women's Basketball Program. Last season, the Huskies amassed a 25-7 overall record (15-3 GLIAC) and finished runner-up in the GLIAC Tournament. The Huskies qualified for the NCAA Midwest Region Tournament. Jurmu spent four seasons with the Huskies as a player where she helped guide Tech to a 90-25 record during that span which included three GLIAC division championships and two appearances in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
