*Face coverings are required upon entry regardless of vaccination status but may be removed during exercise/physical activity in the Student Development Complex and Gates Tennis Center. Please refer and adhere to all posted signage for specific areas inside the Student Development Complex.

Registration and payment can be completed online, by phone at 906-487-2073, or at the SDC Ticket Office. Participants must sign an SDC waiver of liability and concussion awareness form prior to participation. The SDC is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Please do not leave valuables unattended.

Get your Erg on! Join members of the MTU Rowing Club as they guide you through the basics of rowing technique and coach you through fun and challenging workout sessions — all on the SDC’s Ergometers (Ergs)! Initial sessions will focus on general stroke technique and progress to workouts that represent on-water sprints and head races. Open to all skill levels. Indoor rowing is a great full-body workout that can be adjusted to meet the abilities of almost anyone!

Comfortable close-fitting athletic wear (loose clothing gets caught under the wheels and on the monorail) and clean dry sneakers/cross-trainers.

About the Instructor

Kaitlyn Studinger, Rowing Instructor

Kaitlyn Studinger, Rowing Instructor - Kate, an NMU alumni, moved from Marquette MI to the Keweenaw in 2019 and volunteered to coach the Rowing Club at Michigan Tech. She has been an active member of UP Rowing in Marquette since 2016 and currently serves on the Board for the club. She earned her US Rowing Level II Coaching Certification in the summer of 2018 and enjoys being on the water as much as possible. Kate has experience coaching athletes in rowing, track and field, and gymnastics and has also assisted with instruction for scuba diving certification courses. She enjoys outdoor sports, especially those on and in the waters of the great Lake Superior. She loves Houghton and is excited to share her passion for all things "rowing" with the community.
