SDC, Gates Tennis Center, Tech Trails adjust facility guidelines

HOUGHTON, Mich. – In keeping with recently updated university, state and federal guidelines, the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex, Gates Tennis Center and Tech Trails are adjusting facility guidelines. On Tuesday (June 22) Michigan Tech announced a move to a Health and Safety Level One.

Notable Level One Changes:

  • Face coverings are no longer required for any individual, although those who wish to continue to wear them are encouraged to do so.
  • Daily symptom monitoring via the MTU Flex Portal for employees, students, and visitors is no longer required, but we recommend people continue to monitor their symptoms. For students, access to Canvas will no longer be linked to symptom monitoring.
  • All capacity limits are lifted.

The Michigan Tech Recreation staff encourages all patrons to please continue frequent handwashing (especially before and after meals), hand sanitization and receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

The SDC is open to current Michigan Tech students, members, and action pass holders. 

SDC membership and locker sales for the general public will resume on July 1. Daily passes and action passes will not be put back on sale for the time being. Membership information, including lengths and rates, can be found at MichiganTechRecreation.com. HuskiesFit group exercise classes as well as several youth recreation programs and sports camps are also scheduled to take place this summer. 

Summer building hours will be in place through August 29. Please view each facility page for its open recreation schedule. Fitness Center, Pool, Multipurpose Room/Track/Racquetball Courts, Climbing Wall, Gates Tennis Center and the OAP Rental Center.
