Tech Trails Citizen's Night Ski Race Series

Hosted by the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team

Tuesday nights, 6-8 p.m. on the lighted Michigan Tech Trails
Races start at 6 p.m.

The Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team and Tech Trails Staff will once again host the Citizen’s Night Ski Race Series (CNSRS) at the Michigan Tech Trails this winter! This ski series provides all with the opportunity to engage with our local ski community and enjoy the sport of Nordic skiing with fun races for all ages and all ability levels! Whether you’re looking to test your competitive limits or connect and ski with fellow community members, this community ski series is for you!

Due to the COVID pandemic, and to ensure we host a safe and successful event, we are restructuring the series for 2022. Please read through the following for the series details:

Registration & Fee

All participants must register in person at the SDC Ticketing Office before they participate in their first CNSRS. Registration is $25 for the entire race series, and includes a Michigan Tech race bib that you get to keep! Please wear your race bib for each race event. This is a fundraiser for the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team & Tech Trails, thank you!

Series Dates

Tuesday Nights on the following dates:

  • January 18, 2022
  • February 8, 2022
  • March 22, 2022 - postponed to Tuesday, March 29, 6pm, due to inclement weather

Race Timing

There will be a mass start race @ 6 p.m. for all series events, and participants will also be allowed to start on their own if preferred after the mass start goes off. All participants will self-time your race. We will email out a spreadsheet for you to input your race time for each series event if you so choose, and we’ll publish and track results through the series.

Prizes will be presented in person at the Tech Trails immediately following our last CNSRS event on March 22nd!

Race Course & Options

We will have a 2.5km and a 5km race option, and racers may choose to skate or classic. The race courses will have limited directional markings, so it is advised that participants view the course map and ski the race course before they participate in the event.
