Trail Conditions
Dogs must be leashed and under owners' control at all times and are restricted to the Tolkien, Nara, Isle Royale & Superior trails via the following access points - softball fields, Nara & Tolkien. No dogs are allowed at the Main Trailhead.

Please note that the Nordic Waxing Center at the Recreation Trails is closed due to concerns over the COVID-19 health situation. More information about COVID -19 and Michigan Tech's response can be found at mtu.edu/covid-19.

Trail passes can be purchased at the SDC Ticket Office or online. All users should have a student ID or a valid trails pass.

Snowshoe trails include Isle Royale, Superior Loop, Tolkien Trails, and River Loop.

Snow Bikes (Fat Tire) may ride on Isle Royale, Superior, Tolkien, and River Loops.

Please adhere to trail closures due to trail base grooming preparation.

Lighted trails are Birch, Isle Royale, Oak, Balsam, Linden, and Peepsock. Lights are on daily 6:00am-9:00am and 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Safety Note: Please do not ski the wrong way on trails. Trails with steep hills are intended to be one direction to avoid collisions and injury. One-way trails have a Do Not Enter sign posted on the wrong-way trail entrance. Please keep a lookout for these signs and stay safe on the trails!
